Is my Lovable, Bolt or Cursor app secure?

It can be, but you should check rather than assume. Apps built quickly with AI coding tools tend to share the same weak spots: checks that exist only in the interface, database rules left open, secret keys in the front end, and paid features unlocked by the browser instead of the server. All four can be checked and fixed, usually in a day or two.

Why AI-built apps share the same gaps

AI coding tools are very good at making things work. Security is about what happens when someone uses your app in a way you did not plan for, and the tool is not usually asked about that. Studies of AI-generated code keep finding that a large share contains known weaknesses, so it is worth a deliberate check.

The four gaps we see most

  • Interface-only checks: a button is hidden from normal users, but the request behind it still works when sent directly.
  • Open database rules: Supabase tables without row level security, or Firebase rules that allow anyone in.
  • Secret keys in the front end: an AI provider or payment key that anyone can copy from the page and use on your bill.
  • Trusting the browser for payments: paid features unlocked by a success page instead of a verified webhook.

How to check your own app

Start with our general checklist, then the Supabase or Firebase checklist if you use them, and our guide on API keys in the front end. Each one explains a test you can do on your own app with two test accounts.

Fixing what you find

Most fixes are short once you know where the gap is, and you can usually ask your AI coding tool to make them. Be specific: name the request, say who should and should not be allowed, and ask for the check to be on the server. Then test again.

Want it checked by a person?

Elitor was set up for exactly these apps. We test your live app, check every finding by hand, and give you fixes you can paste into your AI coding tool, with a retest included. Start with a free check; one-off checks start at £249.

Elitor is an independent security practice — not a CREST/CHECK-accredited penetration-testing firm. Our assessments help you find and fix real issues affordably; they are not a substitute for an accredited pentest where one is required for regulatory, insurance or procurement compliance. If that is what you need, we will tell you.
